No power to the fans 89 GTA
Howdy,
After years of looking I finally got myself a convertible GTA however it’s been sitting for years. I finally got the car running and had to replace the radiator as it was toast. All back together, start it up and the fans didn’t kick on. I found a broken wire harness end at the coolant switch on the passenger head so I replaced the switch as well as wire and still nothing. I jumped the relay at the piggyback at the one mounted at the radiatior and the driver’s side fan kicked on. I then grounded the wire leading to the coolant switch in the block and the passenger fan kicked on however I lost ground so when I re-grounded it this time the driver’s side fan kicked on. That’s telling me the relay is ok. Am I overlooking something? The car will shoot past 220 and nothing, even turning the ac switch in the secondary won’t even kick on.

I tried that and the passenger side fan kicked on. Tried again then the driver’s side fan kicked on. Replaced the coolant sensor and still got nothing, I didn’t use any Teflon either

You shouldn't be able to actuate both fans by grounding the fan switch wire unless somebody wired them together in an attempt to solve a problem where there was improper fan function. Possibly had a bad fan switch and tried wiring them both together so the computer would turn them both on? Can only guess what some genius thought up. You need to follow the wiring backwards from each fan to each fan relay to look for weird custom work and undo it. Good luck
