Belt driven fan clutch/shroud issues
Hey guys....got a question. I have an 82 T/A and Im having issues mounting the belt driven fan assembly back on to the water pump without it hitting the lower fan shroud. Any ideas what may be the cause? I dont remember having to use a spacer for this part in the past. When i bought the car initially it was missing the upper and lower shrouds. I bought a new fan clutch from autozone....now im guessing it may be the wrong one? Thanks in advance.

I actually had the stock fan and them bought a replacement thinking it was warped. Nope...still an issue.

I bought a flex-a-lite fan which is 17 inches. Still rubbing the bottom shroud. Maybe I need a spacer for the fan clutch to clear the bottom lip of the shroud?

Re: Belt driven fan clutch/shroud issues
next area to check would be transmission mount at the tailshaft-if that is too high, wrong mount, bent x-member,etc., it will rock the engine forward on the mounts and bring the fan down into contact with the shroud-normally there is more than 1/2" of clearance.
