From Fan Belt Driven Fan to an Electric Fan

How hard is it to switch out my belt driven fan to an electric fan? Would the be any horse power gains? Would i have to go to under drive pullies?

It's not hard, but unless you spend +$300 for an electric pump, you'll get a "drag race only" pump that won't live very long under daily driving...

Go to the wrecking yard and find later V-6 fan set up.
1985 & above, I believe?
Wire the fan to work by yourself or constant.
Take the pullies, too!

Tom, If you look around they have street pumps out now that will last. They're becoming real popular with the V-8 Fiero guys.

If the stock fan is setup the same as a V-8 it's an easy swap. Pull off your fan, put the bolts back in and make sure the pump spins freely. Mount electric fan(s) and wire using your prefered method.

Hah, BrianK, you're right; I thought he was talking about the water pump. I forget what year his car is! (Fiream, put it in the sig!)

87RS402, I know that; but as I said, you need to spend more money- buying the $65 Mr.Gasket electric water pump conversion kit won't do it for the street.
