Lower rad hose, no spring

Hello all, I’m having some cooling issues, especially after higher rpm driving. I’m wondering if my lower rad hose is collapsing under higher rpm. Mine does not have a spring. Is there a way I can tell if this is happening? Would you see it collapse while revving without a load?

thanks

None of them have a spring on thirdgens. I just found this out a short time ago...

Interesting, I’ve read about the requirement of this spring from a few sources while I’ve been researching cooling.

Apparently, GM did not see it as a requirement...
Thirdgens are notorious for running hot. Check the rest of the cooling system components for the cause of your problem...

Re: Lower rad hose, no spring

No. Spring not needed. Entire system is at 16 psi. You can check. Rev engine at throttle while watching lower radiator hose. It will not flatten out. If it does, you have that issue but it is caused by something else.
