Corolla Dual Fan Upgrade

I decided my single fan could use an update after some forum searching I found that the 92-02 Corolla dual fan (TO3115106) was a great fit. I got one on ebay for about $80 and also picked up some factory pigtails for the fan so I could use the connectors it came with and make my own harness

To make the fan fit I trimmed down the factory top fan mount then fabbed up some upper and lower mounts.

Parts I used
Fan (PN TO3115106)
Pigtails for fans
http://www.autolumination.com/wiring...-connector.htm
Box, flat and angle steel
Sealed relays
Amazon Amazon
Fan Switch 212 on 205 off (PNs SW555, TS136, 35946, 1S4394, 3053190)
Connectors
Amazon Amazon

The only snag I ran into was the thermal switch did not like activating two relays. I am not sure if it was an inductive kick back issue I could have solved with a diode but I decided to add a helper relay so the switch would be back to its normal stock mode

The bottom mount was angle iron with some 1" box steel I added some 5/16 studs

Relay configuration

Top and bottom mount test fit

Weld nuts for top mount

Final install

Re: Corolla Dual Fan Upgrade

Nicely done; that looks like something I would have done.
I installed a Toyota fan setup on a buddy's '79 Cutlass a few years ago, but he used one of those adjustable controllers (which I do not like).
This is the Chevy Malibu fan swap I did a few years ago: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/cool...tallation.html

Re: Corolla Dual Fan Upgrade

If I may ask, why didn't you go with LS fans? They are a direct plug & play. Plus, the shroud for the LS fans doesn't leave a gap at the top of the radiator.

Re: Corolla Dual Fan Upgrade

I did not consider LS fans I knew that corolla fans could be very effective and were shrouded better than the stock one so I went for it. I really liked the mod in the summer it was super effective.

Because you posted directly under my post, so I thought you were asking me, in reference to my linked Malibu fan installation.

To avoid further confusion in the future, quote the person you are talking to.

Re: Corolla Dual Fan Upgrade

Wanted to give an update. I have been running this system with my sniper EFI one output per relay and still cooling the car great. Just transferred it to my new build but I rebuilt the top mount to make it look better.
