Looking for ideas...

So I've been at my heater core issue for some time now and it's stopping me from continuing. I was able to get it out and then had to go through the waste of time of trying to get a heater core that somewhat fits. The problem is the inlet/outlet pipes don't quite line up and when they do, the bracket doesn't want to go forward. This is my 3rd heater core. I've had to modify it to fit the bracket and honestly, I'm surprised I haven't thrown it across the garage and stomped on it. lol, I know my wife wanted to.

Alright, to the point. I want to cut those pipes down and use flexible braided hoses to attach them. Then, feed the hoses through those motherfu**ing holes to the heater valve while moving the bracket to it's place and securing it. Anyone do anything like this? Anyone know what I need to do this? I have ideas, but they are just ideas. I'm looking for some expert opinions. Anyone confused at what I'm talking about? It's all in my head so trying to explain it can be difficult for me.

No, kind of don't want to chance it although my alternative is to cut the pipes, so maybe I'll try it. Thanks!
