Replacing heater core...question

I got the heater box part off, and now i can see the heater core and the 2 lines that run to the firewall. I havent disconnected the hoses on the engine side of the firewall yet. Once i disconnect them, how do i get the heater core out? Does it just wiggle out pretty easily? I'm just wondering cause im not going to work on it again until the morning, and i wanted to know how much more work i have to do.

It's been a while since I did mine but I am pretty sure that once the core is unbolted from the inside and the hoses in the firewall are off it just pulls out. The heater hoses can be a little hard to get off. You have to break the seal on them, I just used a little screwdriver on mine. I believe the entire job took me 10 hrs to complete. Hope this helps..

Aaron,

There is a support bracket/baffle that holds the core in place. This bracket should have two screws holding it to the plastic case. Once tht is removed, the core will pull out.

It's generally better to remove the hoses from the engine compartment first, when the heater core is still held securely in the case. n When you do remove the core, remember that it will still have coolant in it, so try to keep it upright. A plastic trash bag and old newspapers on the floor can prevent a small disaster with your carpets.
