Mechanical fan is as reliable as you can get. Next best is dual electric. Use the search function on this forum. Pretty sure one or two other people have asked the same question since 1986.

Re: Looking for a reliable HO fan
Do you know what went wrong with the Derale fan? I had an aftermarket fan lock up on me once-magnet came loose, took the motor apart and epoxied the magnet back in place and it was fixed. Very easy to come up with a dead-reliable E-fan setup,or you could install belt drive fan that will have some advantages and disadvantages vs E-fan. Fans mounted close to the radiator without a shroud can work good even with less core coverage because the concentrated airflow helps strip away insulating boundry layer effects from tubes and fins of the radiator. or oil cooler for more effective heat transfer to the moving air

Have you looked into Spal fans? I use a single 16in spal and it moves a lot of air. Actually needed a 70 amp relay for it. They have all different options to choose from.
