Radiator cap leakage

Hi all, from UK. Took my 85 transam for a long drive yesterday, pushing 200 miles, up and down some hills to the coast. When I got home, the rad cap was leaking/bubbling up as though pressure had got too high? It was a pretty warm day (for the uk) and like I say, I’d given the car some stick. Do I need to be worried, never happened before.
Temp gauge in car was totally fine,

I did notice that in the expansion tank, the level was low, even when very hot, rather than at the HOT line?

checked when cooled and at correct level?

could it just be time for a new rad cap? Or something more sinister?

many thanks for any help.

Re: Radiator cap leakage

probably just need a new cap-if that that one says AC made in England,it is likely the original the coolant color looks good-coolant will get rusty looking fast if there is a seepy head gasket getting oxygen into the cooling system.

Re: Radiator cap leakage

Buy new rad cap. Also, when the engine gets hot, the coolant expands back into the overflow tank. When the car is cols, fill the overflow to the level suggested.
