So I went and made my DIY fan shroud + a 16in SPAL circle track fan and finally got around to testing it. It works Super good. 3x 20min track sessions (67F) and my LS1 wouldn't budge over 200F. 8 Autocross laps on a (87F) day hovered around 195F (187F thermostat) It cools better at low and high speeds compared to the C5/4th gen LS1 fans.
I can idle my car on a hot day and the temps drop crazy fast. right to the thermostat closing temp.
More expensive than LS1 fans, but maybe worth it for some.
I made a video on making the semi ghetto fan shroud and SPAL fan.
How loud is that SPAL? I have a pusher straight blade 11 inch SPAL wired as a back up / switched fan......works amazing but the thing is crazy loud.comapred to the LS fans which are whisper quiet.

73dba for the 16in SPAL as shown in the pic above.
So 2dba louder than the LS1 fans.
2dba is about 30% louder.
Another option is trying to retrofit a 2020+ Camaro fan. That's a 16in brushless made by SPAL and can flow 5,000cfm. But requires serious power delivery and a PWM controller.
Delta PAG has a few brushless fans with PWD controll built in. Those are much quieter. But also way more expensive
Spal are great fans. I have the 2000 cfm 30102049 fan and its louder than my GMMG. I can hear it over everything when it kicks on. At spals direction they suggested I run a 70amp relay.
