Which ECM could I use?

I have an 86 Camaro with a 350 TPI, the ECM is from a 305, could I use a 350 TPI ECM out of an 87 and up or are the connectors different for the ECM? If I can't change the ECM, could I atleast change the chip? Thanks for the help ahead of time...

I feel like this guy, running around in circles with this car:lala:

If you have an '86 Camaro, then your engine is a 305TPI unless you or a previous owner swapped it out for a 350. The 305 and 350 TPI ECM's are the same from '86-89, so they're interchangable. You can also change the chip, or start burning your own (see the DIY_PROM board) and upgrade to the '89 $6E code.

Thanks for the info, I would rather go with the stock computer from an 87 350 TPI Camaro rather than burn a chip for it. Only because I didn't put the 350 in it and I don't know what the compression is or the cam specs. Any ideas about how much an ECM would cost?

If your '86 computer is for a 305TPI and the part number for it ends in 165, then you can use that computer. All you'll need is the memcal (chip) for an '87 350 (broadcast code ABWN is for an '87 350 with Federal emissions and a 3.27 rear). I think you can get the memcal for about $40 from any Chevy dealer.
