I spent $250 on a hypertech chip for a 1990 TPI firebird and all it really did was give me cooling problems.
It is not really worth the money.
For less than a custom chip you could by prom tuning equiptment and make your own chips.

you have yourself a rare car. but i wouldnt spend your money on that. burn ur own juss browse the DIY PROM board and read up on it you can test and tune and setup when u want ur fans to come on ect. basically u control more of your car this way. or u can contact superchips.com and they will burn u a custom chip.

TAKE CARE OF THAT CAR!!!

That's the great thing about burning your own eproms. It's really "tuning" the engine to produce it's optimal power. Yes, it takes time, but once you get the equipment, it doesn't cost a red cent more. Just keep playing with it ... until you think you have it "perfect". But, once you get into it, you will realize it will NEVER be perfect as you will find "new things" to play with.

My car is basically stock, and my performance has increase by .6 seconds on a standard acceleration run I do from 20-70 MPH. I have yet to check it out at the track, but I plan to possibly this fall. Also, I've been able to increase my gas mileage to almost US 30 MPGs and my driveability is far better than it ever was.

And yes, my engine is basically stock with over 300,000 Kms (almost 200,000 miles).

howd u manage 30 mpg? thats really good considering i get 20 with my L03 5 speed. So there yet another reason it pays for itself. U save on gas. And yet you still have the power. that u had to begin with.

btw is that a hardtop? if it is DONT wreck it. that car is extremely rare. a 90 IROC witha L98 is rare enough. but a hardtop IROC 90 L98 is extremely rare. Where did u find it and did u know what a rare car it was when u baught it? i didnt know that mine was fairly rare until a week or two ago. i gota 90 RS L03 5 Speed

Yes, read the the "Announcement" and "Sticky" posts to begin with on the DIY Prom Board. Also, the more of the posts on the DIY Prom Board you read, the better off you will be.

Then, depending if you have MAF or SD, you can read the appropriate post. Also, there are plenty of posts from people that have had difficulty with aspects of the Bin Editor or Burner, that you may find helpful. There probably isn't a question that you can think of that hasn't been asked already...plus a lot you never thought of.

See you on the DIY Prom Board.
