ECU and VSS help....w/in
OK to make another long story short. I have a question about VSS Signals...
I just swapped to a MAP system so I had burnt the chip to read the 1 wire buffered VSS...
I just switched to a TH400 and I have a conversion Switch that converts the manual signal to an electric signal...
The car was an 87 GTA so it had electric speedo.... ANYWAY
the conversion switch I have is FOR the MAP system...As in the 2 wire VSS....
IS there any way to Make the 2 wire system work with my speedo???
In looking at wiring diagrams If I Switch the chip back over to 4 wire vss the 2000 and below rpm swithc gets connected to NOTHING since I have no cruise controll??? Is that correct...Then the 5000 RPM would be somehow connected to my SPeedo???
Then the high and low are directly connected to the vss...Basically I get the high and low part But how can I make my speedo work and do I need to hook up the 2000 rpm Wire????

The most common fix is to change the eprom for the Type of VSS you have. SD cars used a different VSS (4,000 pulses/mile). Yours used the 2,000 pulse/mile version. It's a "bit switch" and you just need to set it.
Good time to look into eprom burning if you haven't already. But PLEASE don't ask people to burn you an eprom there or your post will most likely be deleted. There are a lot of advantages to learning how to burn your own eproms. And the cost is generally about about $250. It can be a bit cheaper (or expensive) depending on which scan tool, burner and Bin Editor you get.

Wait so far im my search I seem to get the impression that I dont need to switch...
According to a few people I talked to the speedo gear on all cars sends out the 4000 PPS signal.....
The difference between the MAF and the SD setup was/is that the maf setup has a buffer behind the computer which changes the signal to 2000PPS and sends the buffered signal to the computor...WHERE the SD setup sends the 4000PPS directly to the computer and vss....
If that is true then My problem is I have NO PROBLEM...I hope that is the case...
