Accel Gen 7.... A success!!!

I FINALLY got my Gen 7 to run for more than 3 minutes... all they minor issues are worked out and I am in the tuning stage.

I am working with the VE table at the moment, I understand the basis of the table but what am I looking to accomplish here. I have my Air/Fuel ratio table set at all 14.51, so I am working with the VE table and adjusting the cell values so that my Closed loop Correction is near 0 is this the right approach are am I approching her from the wrong end?

Thanks

Glad to see things are starting to work for you.

As for tuning, you have it correct. Begin by using the VE table calculator to get a good starting point. Then, in closed loop mode, with the narrowband (HEGO) sensor, set your target air-to-fuel ratio table to 14.5 across all speed and load points. Next, tune the base volumetric efficiency table until the observed a:f ratio is close to the commanded values with very little correction. Then you can set the target a:f ratio table as need by your engine combination to achieve optimum performance over all the speed and load points.

Oh yeah, now that you are actually tuning, be sure to learn the keyboard tricks for manipulating your data tables. See the online help, or Help->Keyboard Shortcuts from the calibration software. This will drastically reduce the amount of time you spend editing your tables.

Thanks so much DFIGuy,

I thought I was on the right track just wanted to make sure before I wasted a whole bunch of time..

I will keep you posted, this software is a breeze once you get the hang of it.

Does anybody know how much the Sportsman Software upgrade costs?

Thanks

The 14.7 stuff is all emission based.
There is no need to tune for that, try different ratios, and amounts of timing. You can go lean cruise, and run lots of timing or try 14 to 1, and then say 32.

Idle, try from 15 to 13 and see what works best.

It's a combination of TIMING and FUEL that makes a combo work.
