Question about 90 ALDL

Is it different on the older models. A friends 89 works fine with the aldl cable he made but will not work with mine. It is getting no link or nothing at all. Or is the program ECM not made to work with SD.
Thanks, Gary

What scanner are you using? WinALDL doesn't support SD cars. Moates software supports both SD and MAF. Some of the older cars had the data line on the "E" pin of the ALDL connector and needed to have a 10K ohm resistor placed across "A" and "B" of the ALDL to spit out the 8192 baud rate as opposed to the 160 baud. The SD ecm doesn't need a resistor placed across A and B, but the data line is at "M" at the ALDL.

FEDCBA A,B,C and F have wires
GHIJKL bottom J and L Which wire is the data stream.

You're missing M as there is no I. The data is at M which you think is L, it's an orange wire.
