ECM shutting my QJET off???:?

ok well i have been trying to fix this problem for a while now...when i floor it in first gear, it seems like the ECM just shuts off the carb(doesnt give it gas or something) its like ill floor it....runs fine and anywhere between 2500-4000 it will hesitate, kinda like it takes a short break then kicks back in and runs hard again. i put a new 350 in my car. the car started life as a 84 TA with a LG4. now i got a bored over 350 with other mild mods. i had no problem before the swap.iv instaled a new fuel pump, and jsut upgraded my ignition as well. i didnt touch the computer, and i left all the componets on it also. any help tryin to fix this?

I don't think the ECM controls the carb under WOT. It still does timing functions, but not the carb. Only the front part of the carb has ecm control but when those rear air doors open, it all goes out the window. You have some kind of mechanical fuel problem, my best guess would be.

ok, i took my dad for a ride im my car to see if he can figure ot what my problem is. he thinks is the ECM trying to shif my transmission out of first. he keeps saying "first gear has its limits and your trying to go past them"....can this be true?

The ecm has only one transmission function and that is TCC. Computer controlled tranmissions didn't come about until 93? I think for GM.

ok, thanks we think it may be the timing, ive got it set to 12 initial, and we think its to much total so were gonna bump it down.

It sounds like your carb may just be out of tune. Although the computer controls some of it, I believe you still have to set the "base" adjustments. And coming from a 305 to a 350 the air/fuel ratio may have to be adjusted using the same carb. May be a good spot to check out. Best of luck to ya.
