stock cumputer with holley stealth ram??

I have a question. I have a 91" camaro z28 and am in the process of replacing the tpi 305 with a built 406 using afr 220 heads, possibly a holley stealth ram (havn't got it yet, back ordered for ever!!) , and a comp cams solid roller cam with 252* ont he intake, 258* exhaust (both at 0.050) and .630" of lift on both side and a centerline of 106. The motor has 11.1:1 compression. Is this cam to radical for fuel injection?? I want to go DFI but my question is can I retain the stock computer to operate guages and If I can how would I do this? If I can't how would I get all the guages working without changing the all the wires? Could I just change the senders. Sorry I know there are alout of questions. I have built tons of race and performance street engines but never fuel injected!! Any help would be appreciated!

You're going to have two problems off the bat. The 220 AFR heads use a 1206 gasket and the stealth ram is maxed out at a 1205. I know you want it to fit in a Camaro but I would consider running a single plane converted intake. Two, the 106 lda is going to idle at about 7" of vacuum at anything less than 1K rpm. This is a problem if you want to run closed loop idle but even with a 114 lda it ain't gonna work well with that cam. BTW, you say centerline but I'm assuming lda. Anyhow, I would run a 110 or higher lda just to make it idle happier and be able to jump into closed loop sooner. Comp XR286 has what you want with same lift if you use 1.6 rockers. I know cause I have one...AFR 220's too. It idles at 10.5 "@ 850 rpm. You can tune it with the factory ecm (730) so long as you don't go too high on injectors (36# max). The aftermarket has more flexibility for engines like this since you can pick and choose hardware but it'll run better with the GM ecm and that is just my *opinion*. Tuning this with EFI is no different than what you would do with a carb (the theory, not the mechanical part), just that you do it with a PC and you can tailor it more to what you need. Go to the DIY-PROM board and read the first article at the top that says "please read Trax's intro article" or something. That should give you the basics of burning proms for the factory ecm. As of right now no one has done an intro article for DFI so I can't recommend something for that.

Thanks for the repley, that was more info then I could of asked for!! Just one more questions. If I do convert say an edelbrock Super Victor or victor jr. over to fuel injection or even use one of their kits, like the pro flow, will all the sensors be able to integrate with my wiring harness. I checked out the cam you listed and that does look like a pretty good bumpstick. Thanks for your help!!

The Edelbrock kit uses most of the GM sensors found in the third gen but it doesn't use it's IAC. I don't understand though, are you going to use everything incuding their ECM or just the manifold and inj's and sensors. If you're using everything, it comes with a harness so no need to mess with yours. FWIW, I wouldn't use their ecm and their IAC. The ecm is not completely programmable and it won't do anything for the gauges and that stupid Ford IAC and it's pulse width operation, aakk. Accell makes a manifold under part#74140? and manifold and fuel rails #74139? Other manufacturers make these too. Then add inj's and TB.
