those of you who use a stand alone
just curious what stand alone ECU you guys are running and where can I get a website to learn about it?
http://www.fuelairspark.com/
http://www.motec.com/
http://www.electromotive-inc.com/products/tec3.html
http://www.mrgasket.com/dfigen7.html
That should be a good start for you. All pretty close in features and price except for the motec which is pretty $$$. Tons of turbo buick, mustang and f-bodys use the fuel air spark set up and I'm sure the dfi gen 7 is starting to be noticed as well.

I have a Haltech. Nice piece of hardware, though my experience with the support here in the US wasn't too good. The instructions could be written better too, IMHO.
I have the E6GM though, others may be simpler? I don't know. They had just upgraded their E6GM's when I got mine (I think I got the 6th one after the upgrade), but they sent me the older series' software. It took me a little while to figure out I wasn't doing anything wrong when I couldn't get the laptop to interface with the E6GM. Another issue was in the setup I had to set "auxilliary ignition" to "bypass." Huh? I don't have an auxilliary ignition. This little detail that is 1.) not intuative, and 2.) not in the instructions, prevented the timing to advance, so I was always at the base setting--my only clue to this one was a slightly more sluggish ride on a test drive, and really high temperatures on the gauge. Ever seen your exhaust manifolds glow? I wonder what the exhaust valves look like.
A few times I called for help and asked a question, if the guy didn't know the answer he'd just repeat to me what he did to his truck when he put his in and not answer my question.
Don't get me wrong, I like the E6GM, I just was less than thrilled with the support.
Hope this helps

Thank you, I'll definitely check it out--I found another one here:
http://pub58.ezboard.com/bhaltechdiscussionforum
I feel much more confident with info from other users. I tuned it enough to get the car to run pretty good, but the motor is back out right now to resolve some mechanical issues.
