Hypertech chips

I just put in a 350 to replace my deceased 305. TPI remained intact. Currently I have the 305 chip, but it runs like sh*t. Could I possibly use a Hypertech chip for a 88 or 89 IROC with a 350 in my 85 computer? I'm not looking to make it lightning fast right now. I just want it to run decent.

The 85 ecm is a one year deal, and no other model year chips swap into it.

In that case, how difficult is it to acquire a newer ecm and swap that in?
