i think my ecm is screwed, thoughts?

i have had a recent problem with the infamous code 43. i looked at a few things in my car, which has been converted to speed density and my knock sensor was thought to be the culprit. so i replaced it today (albeit in the wrong side of the block. my old one seized, so i removed the coolant plug in the other side of the block and put the sensor in there!) and now the light STAYS on. another reason i have to believe my ecm is fried is because it WILL NOT talk to scanners. the paper clip trick is the only way to get codes. any thoughts on either problem guys? i need to resolve both of these soon. i have a lead on a used 730 ecm, so i need opinions quickly before i go and buy it...

thanks in advance!
Josh

p.s.-seeing as i only have really one wire (knock sensor wire) for my ESC system (i know a LOT more are around but with no module the KS wire is the main one) is there any SURE FIRE way to test this wire and know if my ECM is bad? is there any CERTAIN test to see if my ECM is bad any other way? thanks!!

no one knows anything about this situation? come on guys, if ya know, PLEASE share the knowledge. i need the help desperately. is there any sure-fire way to know if my ECM is bad? this is really all i need to know. remember i have the 730 ECM and NOT the 165 as my car is a SD car and NOT an MAF car even though it IS an '89...
