Converting to SDI and Smog ramifications

A question for people in California who have converted from MAF to SDI.

I have a 1988 IROC, originally a MAF car. Motor is modified enough that MAF is becoming problematic. I am considering an accel gen 7 piggybacked on a stock ecm which would mean I would be converting to SDI. If I switch to SDI will this raise a flag at the smog station in California?

I assume I would have to switch to a later SDI ECM so it would not be throwing codes, but would I get nailed for using SDI on a car which came with MAF? Or would they even care or know to look for that?

No...you won't have a problem passing smog. Had to do the swap from MAF to MAP and never had a problem with it. I have 6 other friends that did the swap for there DFI's that passed smog visual with no problem. Thats something smog technicians won't be looking for Use the factory SD TPI intake tube and you should be fine. Hope this helps...
