Smog check II and piggyback DFI

Hi,
I am considering a DFI gen 7 with WB O2 piggybacked on the OEM ECU. I am faced with SMOG CHECK II, the treadmill one. I have faith that the engine will run clean enough but am worried about getting caught if the they plug into the ECU as part of the test. That would definately raise a flag.

This is a 1988 TPI OBD 1 car. All visible modifications are compliant.

Anyone have experience with smog check II? Would I get busted?

Thanks
