I'm new! I don't know what to do!
Hey everybody, I am new to this board and I was directed over here for some expert opinions. Here's my story, I am about to do a huge swap as you can see by my sig., I need help with the tuning aspect. I have an '86 TPI 305 and I am about 12000 miles away from it right now, so I can't tell what computer it has. I have been told that I should switch to a 730 or something and use the $8D code, but all of this means nothing to me, is there a one-stop shop for the equipment/ computer I need? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

It is important to learn how to tune the ECM parameters along with learning the ins & outs and burning EPROMs. The ECM contains tables of and single values that define items such as spark timing, startup choke, TCC lockup points and fueling.
See this link for an introduction to prom burning:
https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/promintro.shtml
Learning EPROM tuning/burning can at first be difficult, but gets easier the more you do.
RBob.
