I am not sure if I will get yelled at for this or not but does anyone know? Thanks.

Electronically wise both as the same. The '727 is packaged from under hood use, while the '730 is packaged for under dash use.

The harness connectors are different between them.

Both will run the same code (mask id) in the same manner with the same functionality.

So when repinning them will they line up differently?

I am curious if it would be easier to just get the 730 or get the 727.

I need as much help as possible. This would be my first major project by myself. I have the article printed out and I am reading it, but it just talks about 730.

Both ECMs were used in a bunch of cars. I'd give the nod to the '730 as being the popular though.

I'd venture to guess that you are converting from a '165? If so, then use the '730. The '727 ECM harness connectors are very different from the '730/'165 style.

I have been looking for 727 connectors for a while now to no avail. 730 is the best route.

Check out the lessor cars, Corsica's and I believe the Beretta's ran them too. Maybe some others. Pass side in the front corner. . .

I have two sets of different connectors and both are incorrect. On the "C" connector the pin hole for the data line is not there.

Ah yes, I've seen this before. The data comes out on more then one pin. Can't remember which other pin it is though. Should be able to find it by the ohm-meter method.

I have the pin outs. I just tried a guy that says he has the right connectors. I hope they are good to go. Then I'll be making my harness, And all will be good in my world. Til my wife finds me at the shop.

Are you talking about the ALDL data line? Possibly the B connector? If so the ALDL data line is on both B5 & B11.

I've moved this to the DFI/ECM forum where it belongs and where the ECM expert (RBob) can give his undivided attention. I guess that's why RBob was made moderator of the DFI/ECM forum.

Along these lines,,
Does anyone have the packard/delfi part numbers for these 4 connectors and pins, or at least the pins?

How about part numbers for the other connectors in the system?

I two am wanting to build a harness from the ground up.

Thanks, Greg

Scope out "U Pick" wrecking yards. That is where I get all of my ECM, pins, and sensors. You may even be able to get the whole harness from a 'close match" such as SD V6 F-bodies are REAL CLOSE to SD V8 F-body harnesses.

If i can get the pins new I will scrounge for the connectors. I just don't want to splice all the wires.

Thanks,
Greg

GM Parts Direct can get them to you. They are a special order item, and take about 2-3 weeks to come in. I also got 4 packs from my gm dealer.

Also takes a special crimping tool.

You don't happen to have the GM part numbers do you?
If not, what do you tell them what you want?

I work at an OEM and I have the special packard tools so that should not be a problem.

Tnanks, Greg

The gm part # for the 727 pin is 12066132. I don't have gm #s for the plugs, But I now have a supplier for the four connectors. I don't want to break any rules about advertising so e-mail me at:

I post this this way now due to spam bots.
