smooth idle but...........

smooth idle but...........

got a '83 cross fire 305 with 80,000mi....i get a sometimes on code 44...revs well in neutral, but under load sees to hit a wall at 2500rpm....once it gets to 4th it's fine, but the mid gears find the car struggling to accelerate..the car runs in closed loop at idle with the oxy sensor disconnected...what does this mean?????o i need a new sensor? or is it something else? help guys

Code 44 is O2 sensor lean. I would look at fuel delivery. Fuel filter first then fuel pump.

Closed loop with O2 disconnected could be from the open wire picking up noise. ECM will go closed loop as long as the O2 signal is above or below a mid-range window (typically).
