ECM melt-down

I replaced my old ecm in my car cause it had a little brown burn spot under one of the chips and was not working right. I put the new one in and the car ran better than it ever has. For about ten minutes then the check engine light comes on and it starts running like crap and the fan turns on. about thirty seconds later the light goes off the engine goes back to normal and i start to smell burnt wireing i look over at the new ecm and its siting there SMOKING so i shut the car off open it up and the exact same chip has F'd up but this time it didn't just turn brown it flat exploded. i mean it melted and little drops of stuff fell on to the case. well cause i had no choice i put it back together and pluged it all back in and started the car. it runs great exept for the fan stays on all the time. (will get pics as soon as i can)

Sounds like you have a short in the wiring harness pulling waaaaay too much current through that chip. Find and fix the short, THEN put another ECM in it.

If you can get good pics of the ECM and which chip burned, we may be able to give you a good starting point for which wiring to check.

on the botom of the circuit boeard it says d8d969, on the bar code it says 255001202495129 and in the heatsink thing on the left side of the board there is a sticker that says r1300923621. the service number is 1226870. the replacement board came from a 85 2.8 mfi eurosport celebrity
