Please help me identify this ECM
Hi everyone,
I have an ECM with these numbers on the back panel...
1228063
863421 M712568311
16083421
Can it be upgraded to a later model ECM, say a 165 or 730?
Thanks!

The ECM #1228063 is from an '88 f-body running a 2bbl TBI setup. It can not be replaced with a '165 or '730. The '89-'92 ECM #1228746 is a direct plug in replacement. But not much better.
There is several P4 ECMs that will replace it. It will take some work to change some pins around and tune in the calibration. If interested this thread should get you started:

Thanks for that.
I was given this ECM when I recently got a TPI system and we didn't know if it was a TPI ECM or not. Seeing as it isn't, do you know of a place where I can get a TPI ECM, maybe using this one as a part exchange sort of thing? I might be changing to SD so I guess a 730 ECM would be what I want. I live outside of the USA if it makes any difference.
