Is this my stock MEMCAL?

Iv got a code 41 and its related to the PROM ive been told, so i checked to see if it had been tampered with. the pictures in the sticky post show and say the cover should be blue, and mine is a white hypertech cover. Iv posted the best pics i can get of it. Also, what is that small chit under the bigger one?

Im guessing this is not original, and if not, is it good or bad if i want to get into programming my own PROMs? If it is not original will i be able to treat it as if it was when i go to un-soilder and switch PROMS?

thanks for any help with it.

Surely not the stock MEMCAL. I can see why it gives a cylinder select error (41). I can't even fathom why there is a little chip under the EPROM. Best bet would be to get the latest MEMCAL from GM (or used).

Thanks for answering, i didnt think it was stock. im assuming its not very good since it could not of been specific to my car, but a general program for many cars like mine which could all be running different.

anyway, since i want to get into my own programing of PROMs, would it be best to get a stock MEMCAL for my car and go from there as if this one was never there? Could work off of this one?

iv tried to take care of it myself, but its to the point where iv got to ask if anyone else can help. a GM parts guy and i looked throught thier computers to find a memcal for it, and there is no exact match. would anyone know a part number or help me to find a part number for the memcal??

car is an '86 IROC, LB9, (F) engine code, auto 4spd tranny, federal emissions, A/C...

thier computers ask and display all this kind of info, sometimes even rear end ratios. it seems they cannot get me a perfect match, so should i get a memcal for an 86 LB9 F with auto and ignore the others like A/C and emissions?

possibly lead me to a place to find a part number?

THANKS for any help with it!!

These eprom part #'s will suit your car. Many will be out of production, but some will be available. Go to gmpartsdirect or similar and enter the numbers. Might be a bit hard to read, but its the 4th column you want, after the date.

That is really good info, thanks for that. GMpartsdirect could ony find the 2nd to last one, with AWD BCC code. It doesnt give a clear description of what it is on that site though. It says it is "CATEGORY: Emission Control System Hardware". I want to be very sure it is what i would need before i buy something, at a dealer they had tyhe order way wrong.

I was wondering, where were you able to find that chart info? It is the right car and all i was just wondering.

And one more, is there only one memcal part number that is the real one for my car? Are u saying that these will work even if not perfectly made for my car? It looks that way but i dont know different BCC or ID will do.

i really appreciate info or help with this, im just starting out with the computer aspect of cars.

The info came from CalData, a database of eprom info you can buy from TunerCat.

They all suit your car, they are just revisions that were released over time. This is why its most likely that your dealer only stocks the more recent version.

Cool, thank you, i tried the demo of caldata but it only worked for 1990 cars i think. Ill have to head down to the GM dealer and see what they can get me with those numbers. hopefully it will all be good and well but if not ill just have to find another source.

thanks again
