EFI conversion kit?

Edelbrock Victor EFI conversion kit, $319 per manifold and $79.95 for fuel rail kit. Anyone heard of this? Good idea?

Yes, they run in the $500 range. Or you can convert a carb TB.
Or run an elbow and a cheaper OEM efi style TB.
Aren't injector always separate?
And it's not really a kit. Just an intake and rails.

I guess so. I don't know much about single plane efi's. I am just reading trying to learn more.

Summit sells an Accel and Holley single plane kit.
Has about everything needed for a retrofit. Including the price.

Those throttle body's are soooooo expensive. I think my total cost for a single plane manifold/rails/bungs/TB was like $210-250. That manifold is already $320 and a throttle body like that is like $300+. The Edelbrocks are the lower end of the single plane efi spectrum.

This set up is a full custom EFI installation on a Pontiac 455, 500 plus hp engine in a 79 Trans Am. Using the Edlebrock EFI manifold with injectors and fuel rails. The Accufab 4150 style throttle body.
A Painless Wiring Harness, using a 1227730 ECM with a custom chip. The reason I am using the throttle body is to keep the Trans Am shaker hood scoop.

So you are not just starting out with a small cap distributor from like newer computer controlled car?

With a Pontiac 455?
They stopped making those a long time ago.
He was lucky Edelb makes an intake for it.
Thanks for the pic.
Any more info on the dist?
I know someone wanting to convert an Olds.
I always figured you could stick a 7 pin into an older 4 pin large cap.

I use MegaSquirt. For mor info on that visit www.msefi.com In my opinion it is the best out there once you factor in price and abilities and user friendly. You really won't see much of a gain over a carb in power at WOT. Torque is sometimes a little better. Drivability and street manners and mileage is where it is at.

Why a Pontiac, because it is what I have, An origianl numbers matching WS6, Z code TA with about 56,000 original miles, and a 1958 GMC 1/2 ton with a Pontiac 428.
Pontiac's are still alive and kickin ***.
check this site http://performanceyears.com/newsite/index.

As for the distributor modifications I have detailed instructions with phots and will try to post them tomorrow

I was responding to the previous small cap ?

I applaud your effort.
I'm well aware of the pontiac's abilities.
Just don't like the price.
I will be doing a bbc conversion in a couple of years.

The 1980 California and 1981 Pontiac all applications used a fully electronic ECM controlled distributor. Just buy it and drop it in.
