Jet Six-pack chip & troublecode 51
I recently bought a 1988 Chevrolet Camaro Iroc-Z with 350 engine. It has a JET Performance Six-Pack Chip For GM installed in it. The car don't run properly and gives troublecode 51. The guy who sold the car didn't know much about it. I only got an old dynopaper and instructions to set chip to "2" when starting the car, and to "0" when driving. Now the car runs very poorly, and turns off when I put the gear on.
I've asked instructions for the Chip from Jet and from Summit, but they won't answer my emails. Does anyone here have the same chip or instructions for it so I could check if it's installed properly?
Any help with the troublecode 51 is also appreciated!

Any ideas where I could buy the eprom myself directly?

Just in case ...code 51 is Mem-Cal Error(faulty or incorrect mem-Cal)The book says to clear the codes and recheck and if it reappears to replace the ECM.

I replaced the ECM with a new one. Now the car runs first normally, but when I put the gear on, it starts to run very poorly again. It's better now with the new ECM, but not good. There's no troublecodes anymore.
Any ideas what to do next?

Me and Hooligan were today checking his car (after ECM replacement) and found out something new:
-No trouble codes anymore
-with set timing wire connected, idle is unstable even with gear in park position, it sounds like some spark plug is not giving sparks. Gear in D postion car barely was running. We tried to disconnect 2 ignition wires at same time and that didnt affect idle quality at all(not better or worse)!!
-Then we disconnected set timing wire and timing quality was a lot of better, even when gear was in D.
So, it looks like ECM is doing something wrong with timing, because car runs better without ECM timing. Any ideas what might cause this?

Basic tuneup time. Put on a new set of plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Check the distributor for side to side wobble on the shaft. Theres should be NO wobble. If there is, replace the distributor. Uneven timing and misfires can also come from a bad magnetic pickup in the distributor or a bad HEI module. Check those, replace as required. If the distributor, pickup and module are all healthy, the ECM will get good strady timing pulses.
