DFI 6.32 connectivity?
Hey Guys-
I tried to hook up my laptop to my ecm today for the first time. I have calmap 6.32 installed and I got the following message:
16 bit ms-dos subsystem
c:\calmap\calmap.exe
The system cannot open com1 port requested byt the application. Choose 'close to terminate the application.
So whats up? Is my laptop to new (it a year old Vaio). Am I overlooking something. Ecm was powered up but not running. Software booted Okay. Is there anything I can try? Do I needan oldere laptop. If so anyone got one for sale?
Thanks guys

The old 6.0 stuff needs to be run in a pure DOS environment. Nothing later than windoze 95 will really allow calmap 6.32 to work correctly. If you can find a copy of MS-DOS 6.22, and you can install that on your laptop, then rebooting the computer into DOS mode should work. Otherwise, your options with that laptop are pretty limited.

Does your lap top have a serial port or are you running through a USB port? I had to change the port # for the USB port to COM1 in its properties. Got the com port to work but getting display candy striping.

Wow. That pic is pretty crazy.
What computer/operating system combo are you running to get that to happen?
The fact that you mentioned a USB port scares me a little. Unless you can get DOS drivers for a USB port (they probably don't exist) I don't think you are going to be able to run the old 6.0 stuff on your current laptop. I'm pretty sure you MUST have a true serial port on your computer to have any prayer of making that stuff work.

Hmm. That's pretty interesting about the usb adapter. Maybe try changing the resolution if you are getting in through a dos window. Otherwise, I'm not sure how to change the resolution if you are rebooting in dos mode.
