Would my ECM throw codes if I didn't use the EGR/ emission stuff?
Just wondering,
It's a 1992 Camaro ECM and Wiring. Not going to use any EGR/ emission stuff. Trying to keep it as simple as possible.
Can I use the stock chip or is a custom burned one in order?
Thanks in advanced !

Stock ECM will want to have a complete car, else it will tell you.
Check Engine light will never go out.
Detonation will not be in check (by the EGR) so ECM will have to retard timing to reduce detonation (happens AFTER detonation is detected).
Since your timing will be retarded, your power will be decreased.
Since your EGR will no longer be keeping detonation down, your engine will detonate more (destructive).

Thanks for the reply. I guess I need to keep egr and get a custom chip for the other stuff I delete. I have a 1992 Camaro GM shop manual, I'll double check everything and make sure EGR is on my "keep" list.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

You can certainly disable the EGR in the bin/ecm. This will require burning a chip which you should do yourself and refine the tune as you go. It will also require a few other tuning modifications but it is certainly in the doable scope of tuning and burning chips.
However, you might run into a smog law issue down the road.
