Help identify this Ecu Box (Vortech)

Can anyone tell me where to find info on this thing? I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but here's the story. My dad was gutting an Astro to take to a junkyard. It had a 305 TPI swapped in, but the really neat part was when he got to the ECU.

That's obviously not the stock setup, but it's what was wired up.
I can't seem to find much info, and I only have these pics. If I talk to my dad he can get numbers off the box if necessary.

Re: Help identify this Ecu Box (Vortech)

Well I'm pretty sure it's not OEM, I mean look at the connectors.
Says Vortech supercharged right on the side. I'll have my dad dig up the numbers tommorow, the box is in NC and I'm in Ohio.

It's gotta be from http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/ . It's probably older technology before PCM's were programmed easily and affordably by handheld programmers.

Re: Help identify this Ecu Box (Vortech)

thats going to be the underhood version of the 7730 ECM, i think its a 7727. it was used on a number of GM cars, the vette, Z34 & the Lumina come to mind.

they had more than their share of problems when GM first started using them, so much so that when i had a car come in with that ECM, it was the first thing i checked for problems. the later ECMs were greatly improved, they were either built better, or GM had another company make them.
