no crank signal
i have an 89 gta 5.7 i'm hoping someone can help me. i can not get the car started under it own power. with my scan tool hooked to the aldl i do not see any rpm while cranking. i have checked ckt 430 from ecm to ing module and there is no short or break in the wire. also when i get it running (carb clean) the scan tool will read rpm. i have tested the pick up coil and it is fine i've replaced emc and ing module. i'm lost as to where eles the problem could be. i know with out the crank singal the injectors will not fire. could a faulty vats module do something like this? could a faulty prom do this? i don't want to keep throwing parts at it or junk a car with 45,000 miles. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!! the gm dealer near won't touch it because of age.
Thanks Paul
Thanks Paul

Re: no crank signal
I recently had this no RPM while cranking issue, and thought there was some electrical problem either with the ICM or ECM. Turned out the dizzy was stabbed wrong, and once we got the plug wires line up with the right timing(ish), it fired and RPM was then displayed.
Yes, VATS can cause an engine to not start, and only start with starter fluid/fuel poured into the intake.
