MEMCAL problems

ok just getting into the whole efi thing and have a problem. i have 305 tpi gear off of a 88 iroc on a 350 with a fat tapit cam insted of a roller cam. i swapped all of the electronics (minus injctors) for 86 corvette parts knowing it used the same set up with a hydrolic cam. my problem is that i took the MEMCAL out of my comp and installed one from an 86 corvette and the car wont run with it , i put in the old one from the 305 and it runs. the numbers from the vett is aarl 1010 and the one from the camaro is akft 2389 anyone know why my car wont run with that MEMCAL from the vett. they bouth use the same ecm so what is my problem? PLEASE help

Re: MEMCAL problems

There is a difference in the injector constants. The AKFT is set up for the 19#/hr 305 (LB9) injectors. Where the AARL is set up for 22 #/hr injectors. So it will run lean with the 'Vette MEMCAL thinking that the injectors are larger then they really are.

Note that the AARL is a Canadian calibration for open loop only.

Re: MEMCAL problems

With AARL in place check that the SES light blinks at key-on, engine-off.

If that is OK, then spray some fuel into the TB and then see if it starts. If it does it may keep running (or may not). What I mean by running lean is that it will be too lean to start and run.

lol, I just remembered something, it is possible that the 'Vette chip is expecting a VATs signal. The y-body's received VATs before the f-body's. If this is the case, then AARL won't even fire the injectors. Can check that with a light.
