What's needed for info with laptop
I just got a new laptop with Windows Vista. I am new to this & would like to know what I need as far as cords & programs to read & clear codes. I would also like the capability to view engine info like TPS volts. I might even get into burning proms but that will be later since it seems pretty complicated, right now just the reading diagnostic info would be good & if I could record it even better. I would appreciate any help anyone can give me. Thanks

Vista may be a no go. search "vista". i bought lappy with vista. ended up uninstal and added XP. then i created a parallel port with a pcmia card and used a serial to usb as well. now all is ok. i would return it and buy a lappy with xp on it. IMHO.

you need software(snap on, dfi, ect...) and the proper obd plug in, not sure where to get them, I'd check online...
