Hi. Well, I have a VATS problem (is there any other!). I purchased a 1992 Formula for a great price, but it had no ignition key! Is their a way to get the resistor value without having the key? Is there some way of using the VATS computer to get it. If i cannot find out the value I was thinking of just buying one of those memcal adapters that turns of the vats and putting in a regular ignition lock cylinder. If any of you have ever found out a way to get the resistor value without the key I would really appreciate it. Thanks and you guys have the best forum!

you could use the vin to find which key code is necessary for the VATS. As you may already know, there are 15 different codes. a good locksmith could make another key for you but it would probably cost around $65.00-$80.00 dollars. Otherewise you could probably find another passkey module with the key and all and simply replace the entire module. Another option would be to purchase a Bypass module that would require a vin to locate the correct key code for the madule on the vehicle. The only way I know of to check for resistance is by taking the key to an ohmmetter and measuring the resistance, but i understand that you dont have the key. hopefully this will shed some light on your problem
