i can datalog but the 10k switch is screwing up my readings

i finally got the moates cable with the 10k swit

but because my ecm and my car are 1986 tpi it only is 160 baud rate

i talked with moates tech support

i cant just switch the 10k to establish connection to the ecm then turn it off because of the 1986 style

the problem is taht the 10k switch is screwing up my engine it raises the rpm/idle and is throwing off my blm to 154 which is soaking my cylnders with fuel and making a nice muffled boom boom fuel explosion sound

if i switch to open off the 10k the readings are alll over the place like its tweaking out but engine goes back to normal

they suggest i switch my chip to 1989 which is another 150 bucks or more

im really not in the situation to change things and spend more money on this car

i paid the un-real price for the moates cable and i downloaded datalogging software i expect to get results

what has other people with these cars with this year do to get any datalogging done?
