Benefits of no ECM

If I where to run a carb'd engine with a 5spd and remove the ECM would there be any beneits from removing the ECM?

Kind of a weird question... Do you mean that you would be running the carb'd/5spd setup, but leaving the ECM sitting there under the dash? Or, are you asking what the advantages are to running a carb'd/5spd setup as compared to an computer controlled setup?

You then run old school distributor? weights and all? I say you should keep ECU control of spark. allows calibration of SA with a laptop assuming you wish to tweek it. MSD offers chips to offers differing curves in one of their Dizzy's. that beats disassembly.
