90-92 TPI stock rev limiter setting
90-92 TPI stock rev limiter setting
I have a 92 TA 305 TPI conv 5spd. The original AXXC-3067 PROM was improperly reprogrammed (long story), so I replaced it with AC Delco 16163066, which is coded AXXC-3066.
Anyhow, I could've sworn I remember the original 3067 chip had a rev limiter somewhere between 5-6K rpm. With the new chip AXXC 3066, at a stand-still i revved the motor to 6k, and no rev limiter. I am not going to rev it any higer than 6k just to see if a limiter kicks in. What's up with that? Is the rev limiter not kicking in because the car is not under load? A stock prom should have a limiter in the program right?
There's no point of ever going beyond 4500rpm with this mostly stock LB9, so i'd like to have the reassurance that there's a rev limiter in case of a mis-shift or something.

i don't know about the 305 TPI chip. but in the 350 TPI AUJP chip, its set around 10,000 RPM.

There actually is a point in revving past 4500 RPM in a completely stock LB9. I dropped 2 tenths of a second off my quarter mile times when I raised my shift points to be right at 5000 RPM as opposed to 4500 RPM.
