Have CODE 13 but have no O2 sensor???

First let me start off by saying I am a beginner when it comes to car repairs. Now to make a long story short, after replacing my header gaskets and a dead battery, my car began to run rough at idle, skip like crazy (choking for air, and late responding when I hit the pedal), and stall out. When it stalled I would rev it up high and made it home. At first I though it was my TPS which I had disconnected for months because it drove better w/out (had a slight skipping issue before). Sooo I connected it back and adjusted the volatage. Same problem. So I ran my computer scanner and it reads "CODE 13". However, when I purchased my car a year ago, it had no O2 sensor connected. Has hedman headers no O2 port. Any help on why this code would appear when I have no O2??? Thanks

This is correct. Code 13 will be set from lack of O2 sensor activity.

Because you have the stock computer and its looking for the O2 sensor that should be there. You need to have a bung welded into your headers so you can connect an O2 sensor or you're just gonna keep having problems. Or you can do some prom burning and delete the o2.

If i grabbed some new headers with the bung already set there is it possible to install an O2 sensor being a beginner at these types of repairs??? I have no problem throwing in some new headers since mine are warped anyways. How hard is it to connect an O2 sensor to the ECM? Thanks

Well unless the PO ripped your O2 wire out it should still be in there somewhere...
A word of advice though. If you do install an O2 in your headers, you need to get a heated O2, Headers don't get as hot as regular manifolds do.

Re: Have CODE 13 but have no O2 sensor???

^thanks for the info...i was able to grab this wiring diagram and what it looks like is if I folow the fuel injector wiring on the drivers side I should hit the O2 connector next right??? The only thing is I dont remember any unconnected wiring when I went searching...I would imagine the PO wouldnt of went any further disconnecting the O2 right??? Shouldnt be any additional benefit...thanks for all the help

Well I would hope that they didn't. Its a single wire with a plug at the end of it, and its black if that helps any.
