Re: vss buffer

Rodger at www.speedometersolutions.com should be able to answer any questions you have before you even finish asking them.

I called them up and told him "I'm putting Autometer gauges in my 84 Camaro with a mechanical speedo and I need..." he cut me off and told me I need this cable along with this short extension so I can add this hall effect unit that would replace my VSS and that I needed to measure my tires and tell him my gear ration so I could get the correct driven gear and sleeve.
He was spot on!

There are a couple of ways to do this. The current VSS/buffer can be used, but you need to flip a flag in the ECM calibration. If you have PROM burning equipment you can do it that way.

If not, get a 4-pole in-line magnetic sensor. Place it inline with the speedometer cable and wire it to the ECM. No need to change the calibration using this method.
