OBD-I to OBD-II ALDL stream converter?
Nowadays, with all those nice and cheap OBD-II interface adapters with BlueTooth etc, has anyone tried to make a OBD-I to OBD-II ALDL stream converter?
I want to log (some of) my OBD-I data (RPM etc) to a phone app made for Roadracing or AutoX like Racechrono (http://www.racechrono.com/).
Racechrono uses BlueTooth for communicating, and it would be nice to send my OBD-I data to it.
Anyone considered this?

Re: OBD-I to OBD-II ALDL stream converter?
Hmmm...thinking about my own question again, I realize that making a OBD1 to OBD2 ALDL stream converter would be a pain in *** ****
I guess one of the benefits with OBD2 is STANDARDISATION.
When realizing that there are quite many different ALDL-streams just för "our" ECU:s, writing a converter would be a mess.
To reach my goal I will try another approach: "join" the TrackData (GPS) with my OBD-1 ALDL-data into one, single, "known format" file .

Discussions in this thread is similar to my question, not to convert OBD1 to OBD2 though, more make an app for OBD1:

Re: OBD-I to OBD-II ALDL stream converter?
I have a scangauge knockoff that I use in my newer vehicles. When I was looking on ebay today I found:

Do you think such a cable would work to connect up a scangauge to my Firebird? Kind of tempted since it is only $8.
On a related note, does anyone know what the pinout of an 1987 ALDL to OBD2 would be?

Re: OBD-I to OBD-II ALDL stream converter?
I would say no. The OBD-I ALDL stream differs completely. It has to be "translated" to work. I guess these OBD-I to OBD-II cable adapters just makes it possibly to read OBD-I data with a tool that supports both OBD-I and OBD-II.
On the other hand, wouldn´t such a tool have both OBD-I/OBD-II cables from the beginning?
I also have seen those cheap adapters, don´t really understand its purpose.

An answer to your question: no, it does not work, I bought a while ago and it does not work because the data meet the ground and still other crap like that, but I keep taking ALDL to make a cable that works. Excuse my broken English.
