just check whats my trouble code and it is trouble code 12 and 51 ? i have 89 camaro rs 5.0 tbi with k&n air filter and 2.5 in exhuast with flowmaster last owner had removed the cataylitic converter car runs fine idle is around 2500 i belive i drove 100 plus miles the other day only isssue is it runs 250 for coolant temp i just got 160 thermastat new coolant temp sensor and about to flush fluid with water then put in 50/50 mix as got airdam and chin spolier off 90 camaro i know its either the prom or ecu but not sure where to start to troubleshoot

51 is faulty prom. Did you remove it and placed back into vehicle? Could be in backwards or loose.

Key on engine off verify a blink of CE light then on solid.

Key on does CE light flicker?

 

code 12 is not a code. That should blink that way if you have no codes.

 

You may need to get a fan controller to turn your fan on earlier now, or get your chip reprogrammed for that. For example , for a 160 thermostat , the ecm should be programmed to turn your fan on at about 176 degrees. Stock chip is set for a 195 thermostat, and fan on at around 215 or so. You can buy a fan controller tho.

 

Ignition on it just blinks doesn't stay on it just blinks all day

 

Yea I got 160 thermostat and new coolant temp sensor radiator is new and just installed air dam under the car 5min ago havent drove yet how can I reprogram the chip

 

Faulty ECM or Prom! Never run right...

160 degree thermastat and even if the prom was working it's waiting for the car to warm up to 195 so you would be in choke all day....

 

a hypertech thermomaster chip made to run with a 160 thermo, but you will get much better results burning your own. You will need to buy chip burning equipment and know what you are doing. Easier for you to buy a custom chip, you can tell them exactly what you want. Yeah, right now a 160 thermo is doing nothing but opening sooner than the 195, the important thing is the temp the fan comes on,which should be a little higher temp than your thermo rating.

 

try another ecm before you do anything, check the salvage yards and the classifieds on here.

 

Yea car actually had no thermostat in it

 

Got the cooling work out I look at the ecm. N prom and it looks like they change it with a new one already

 

what are u trying to say? New prom? that still doesn't matter, could be bad. More than likely though,ecm is bad.

 

I can't get smog till I fix ses light its automatic fail guess got to start looking for one
