I have no emmision controls,a vacuum advance distributor, a non electric carb. and a 700R4 trans. Can I remove the ECM and if so, how do I wire the TCC to engage manually?

Re: Removing ECM

You'll more than likely need a TCC lockup kit, available from TCI, Painless, etc. - about $100. You have to drop the pan on the tranny to wire it up - so might as well add the cost of new tranny fluid, new tranny filter, and a drain plug to get installed into your pan while it's off (so you don't hjave to deal with tranny fluid spillage ever again).

Also good time to install that shift kit you've been wanting (since pan has to get dropped anyway).

There's more info on TCC wiring and operation in the carb forum stickies.

Yes, can remove the ECM - it's not even doing anything now anyway without the cc dist.
