ECM Clarification

I have researched alot on this site and others about the 305 to 350 swap TBI in 91RS Camaro. Most say to swap the ECM chip along with ESC,knock sensor and injectors. I called Howell Engine Development for a programmed chip and they asked all the particulars and said that you can use the same chip, does anyone have any info on this? Thanks for any help!!

Re: ECM Clarification

305 to 350 is 17% larger on displacement. You can use the same chip if you bump up fuel pressure or swap in larger injectors to account for displacement change. Wont be perfect but should run.

Re: ECM Clarification

I did swap the injectors and the car actually runs good. Did not know about uping the fuel pressure though, should that be done also? And by you saying it wont be perfect, i assume that I should replace the chip so everything works proper, you aggree?

Re: ECM Clarification

I went the 305/350 switch in my Formula...

(Don't know why I can't get this inserted as a hyperlink... )

It starts, but has some idle issues, and seems to be running
very rich. It's still a long way from streetable, so I have no
idea regarding overall drivability. However, being at absolute
ground zero on the tuning curve, RBOB's EBL unit looks like the
most bang for the buck, and is very highly regarded here on
the board. For what that's worth, hope it helps.
