EBL flash w/Crank Positioning Sensor

Two realtively short questions. The L31 we are building has the provisions for a CPS sensor in the timing cover. We will be buying the sensor to plug the hole in the timing cover. Since its there and as of right now slated to be disconnected, i figured now would be the time to ask if there is any benefit to connecting it? thats assuming the EBL can even use/read the CPS signal for anything useful.

The other question is does the EBL flash require a Vehicle speed sensor to operate properly? The current transmission we have does not belong in the car. Its out of a truck and since hooking up the VSS that came with the transmission it pegs out the speedo sitting still. (its a race car we dont need to know how fast we are going!)

Any info would be helpful.

Connect the CPS to a standard 8-pin ignition module. This will provide for more accurate spark timing. Be sure to twist the wires together between the CPS & ICM. If the ICM is not mounted in the distributor then will need to heat sink it.

A VSS isn't required, although it is better to have one. The truck VSS set ups are a 40-tooth reluctor on the output shaft. Can get a DRAC box out of another truck and use it. The DRAC is programmable via straps for the rear ratio & tire diameter. The 2K PPM output from the DRAC will interface directly to the ECM. While a 4K PPM output is for the electronic speedometer.

Forgive my ignorance on this, is the ICM something the car has already or would needed to be purchased and installed?

ICM is the Ignition Control Module, you already have one...
