Changing EST

Thought one of you guys might be able to help but if this is inappropriate I am sorry. Installed GM TBI on an older four cylinder engine and discovered the distributor rotates opposite direction as the GM 2.5 engine. Needless to say I have allot of retard and no advance. I have been running engine with bypass unhooked. Any hints would help because 0 is the least that T Pro will allow in the main spark table. Using the 165 ECM with $94 mask 91 S-10

Re: Changing EST

What did you use for distributor? Or did you do a duraspark pickup to external mounted EST? Wires are backwards...

Re: Changing EST

I machined the 1991 GM 2.5 distributor to fit in the older engine. This is an eight pin distributor.

Re: Changing EST

Swap the two wires from the pickup coil to the ICM. IOW, reverse the terminals they are on going to the ICM.

Re: Changing EST

That change corrected the advance problem. THANK YOU
I did need to adjust the base timing a substantial amount after changing the wires. Is that normal?
