Jet Performance Chip Problems???

Today I recieved a Jet Performance chip I ordered for my 88 305 TBI Camaro Base model with an automatic transmission. I installed it but when I started it the RPM were extreemly high at idle and my check engine light flickered like a stroble Light. I drove the car and I didn't notice much different in power. Obviously something is wrong but can somebody help me figure out why It's doing that?? I asked a guy I know and he said maybe turn the idle down a bit on the throttle body stopper to reduce the idle... he also said it could be why the MIL light is flickering, becuse the high rpm (2000) at idle and almost wanting to do a burn out in drive. I made sure when I ordered the chip, I gave all the right info.. Also the flickering MIL light comes on as soon as i turn the key to the run position. I was able to take it out and put the stock one in no problem but liike I said i just need some help at why It could be like that. the help is much appreciated!

Are you sure you put the chip in the right direction.

It is either as dave posted or it isn't the correct chip. The '88 f-body ECM is a one year only. So if the chip is for a '89 -'92 f-body TBI it won't work.

The fast flickering SES is due to a checksum error of the EPROM contents. The ECM is in limp mode.

RBob.
