Re: MOTOR SWAP COMPUTER ?

8746 is an ECM used in 89 - 92 F & B Cars, LO3 & LO5 Eng.

The BBC is specific for 305 or 350 and same on tranny.

Re: MOTOR SWAP COMPUTER ?

I WILL LOOK AT THAT WHEN I GET HOME.THE CAR SOMETIMES HESITATES IF YOU TAKE OFF SLOW SOMETIMES NOT ALL THE TIME.IF YOU PUT YOUR FOOT IN IT IT WILL ROAST THE TIRES.IVE REPLACED OR CHECK ALL THE SENSORS AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS OFF.GOT THE CODES FROM THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHING TO KNOW WHAT SENSORS WHERE BAD.SO NOW I WANT TO BUY A CHIP BUT I DONT WANT THE WRONG ONE IM USED TO CARB MOTORS SO I HAVE LITTLE KNOWLEDGE ON THE EFI STUFF.THE HESITATION WAS MAKING ME THINK THE INJECTORS OR COMPUTER .JEGS CHIP FOR MY CAR ONLY COMES UP FOR A 305 SO IM WONDERING WHAT KIND OF CAR OR TRUCK I NEED TO GET THE ECM OUT OF OR IF IT MATTERS.I WANT TO GET THE MOST OUT OF THE CHIP CAUSE I CAN GET THE ECM AND INJECTORS FREE.

Re: MOTOR SWAP COMPUTER ?

You need a 8746 ECM. only TBI 350 was a cop car caprice. search for a broadcast code for it. I dont know the ABCD or i would post. It is a common Q.

First timer so you are excused for using Capitals. Caps suggest that you are hollering.

Re: MOTOR SWAP COMPUTER ?

I thought the TBI fuel pumps were the same but 5.0 and 5.7L has differant part numbers?

Definatly have to have the 5.7L injectors!

Here's a EFI dictionary and abbreviation list to get you started:

I don't believe there ever was a 5.7 TBI. So there couldn't be different numbers.

TBI has fuel pressure @ 18 lbs max and TPI has @ 90 max. Pressure regulator reduces it to running pressure.

350 cid for TBI was available in cop car caprice and trucks. If fact 7.4L was available in trucks as well.

Not quite what we are talking about here but I'll grant you that you are correct in what you said.

Re: MOTOR SWAP COMPUTER ?

Ah! That was why they were differant numbers! 5.0L was TBI and 5.7L was TPI that year Camaro?

Cause I know 5.0L and 5.7L TBI engines in other cars and trucks are the same.

So to answer the OP question his 5.0L TBI fuel pump will be fine in his 5.7L TBI engine swap.

Just needs correct injectors and chip.

It is possible the 5.7L L05 used a diff pump. The 7.4L 1995-1996 truck used a TPI pump (34-25 lbs FP).

Edit: I see a 1991 Camaro. Eagle is correct on TPI for 2nd pump listed.

Your right there but that was an oddball. The early 7.4L TBI still used same TBI pump.

Sorry you feel that way and that earns you a report for an extremely offensive file posting.
